Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God

“It is the nature of love to be enterprising.”  ― J.I. Packer

Every once and awhile a musical sound comes out of the Toy Box

It takes me to a happy place

One word Prayer this week “Immanuel”

Prayer:    “Keeping Company with God”

Company you wanted to leave?

Immanuel:      Company you never want to leave.

Not by human hands Part II.          Daniel 3:44, 45 “Not by human hands”
Luke 1:26–37
Psalm 2   – is a celebration of the unquestionable supremacy of God and his Messiah over all the rebellious forces of humanity.

Purposeful Hebrew Structure

The first and last parts are about rebellious humanity. The middle two parts are about Yahweh and his Messiah.

Typically, the central parts of this biblical type structure are the parts that have most critical significance – the punchline, so to speak. Here, the central parts are about Yahweh and his Messiah

The rebellion of humanity is not central.    It lies on the outskirts of importance.

Not By Human Hands

1 Corinthians 1:30
It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
By His doing you are in Christ Jesus
Philippians 4:13   –  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
John 15:5 – “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5 (TPT)

“I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless.

2 Corinthians 4:7
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Acts 11:23   – Barnabas and the Church in Antioch
When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to abide in the Lord with all their hearts.

Night of Destiny.          Night of Power
Prayer
The Moravian Community of Herrnhut in Saxony, in 1727, commenced a round-the-clock “prayer watch” that continued nonstop for over a hundred years.

Looking back to that day and the four glorious months that followed, Zinzendorf later recalled: “The whole place represented truly a visible habitation of God among men.”

Prayer powerfully illustrates this point “Not By Human Hands” more than anything

Silliest thing I do each week is to stand on a hill in the cold with 3 or 4 others
Prayer  – Matthew 6
Matthew 6:5   “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.  6  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you openly.
As a Youth Leader at WOCC,  I took a youth group to an Alice Cooper Concert – outside to minister to those as they left!
Thought (God gave) “Someone is praying for this young person, and that young person!”

In 1732, five years after the initial outpouring of the Spirit, two Moravian tradesmen, 36-year-old David Nitschmann and 26-year-old Johann Leonhard Dober, became the first missionaries to leave Herrnhut. They heard of the plight of African slaves on the island of St. Thomas in the Caribbean, and how there was a spiritual hunger but they had no one to share the gospel with them.   So, to reach them, they sold themselves into slavery, so they could minister to the slaves!

Just How Worthy is the Lamb

“MAY THE LAMB THAT WAS SLAIN RECEIVE THE REWARD OF HIS SUFFERING.”

Not By Human Hands

The world is waiting to see that one who is fully yielded to Him!
